Abstract

While tariffs are often implemented to protect domestic industries, generate government revenue, and address trade imbalances, they can also lead to unintended economic consequences, such as retaliatory measures, supply chain disruptions, and increased consumer prices. This paper explores the impact of tariff policies on global trade, analyzing both the challenges and opportunities they present. It examines historical and contemporary tariff policies, their effects on key industries, and the role of international trade agreements in mitigating conflicts. Additionally, the study highlights strategies that businesses and policymakers can adopt to navigate the complexities of tariff regulations while promoting sustainable and inclusive trade practices.
